Mr. Matt Mazur, M.A.
Co-Founder, Director, Musician, Teacher
Autism Intervention and Early Childhood Music Specialist
Matt is the Co-Founder and Director of Turtle Dance Music, LLC. He has worked nationally as a teacher, musician and Autism Intervention Specialist. Known as the "Bruce Springsteen" of early childhood music, Matt received a graduate degree in Developmental Models of Autism Intervention and Early Childhood Development at Montclair State University. He received his Bachelor's of Fine Arts in Drama from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts. He received his Master's of Arts in Theatre Studies from Montclair State University. He loves performing in schools, libraries, regional theaters, and autism centers. He is currently studying music technology with the NYU MusED Lab. He also loves his wife, Maggie, who is also his best friend.
Musician, Sound Engineer
Danny Davis is a New York-based actor and musician. He received his BFA in Theater from NYU's Tisch School of the Arts, where he played the titular role in Hamlet and wrote two original plays, including a musical for which he created the book, music and lyrics. Davis has since worked with music luminaries such as David Byrne and Anais Mitchell, and directors such as Rachel Chavkin, Kent Nicholson, and Ken Rus Schmoll. He has taught children and teens of all ages at Derby Summer Arts and Odyssey Teen Camp. He has led workshops for young people in a wide variety of subjects, including music, theater, improv comedy, bluegrass, animation, podcasting, and Muggle Quidditch. He is a multi-instrumentalist, with proficiency in guitar, mandolin, banjo, piano, bass, and musical saw. He has performed dozens of shows with Turtle Dance Music, both as a duo with Mr. Matt Mazur and as a solo performer, and has recently started teaching early childhood music at Sephardic Academy of Manhattan.
Teacher, Musician, Music Therapy Graduate Student
Shu is a musician, violin teacher, and music therapy student based in New Jersey and New York City. She plays violin, guitar, and sings. Shu received her Bachelor of Arts degree in violin performance from Tongji University in Shanghai, China. Recently, she finished studying two years of music therapy at Montclair State University and will continue in the music therapy graduate program at New York University. At Montclair State University, she studies violin with Weigang Li, the first violin in the Shanghai Quartet. She plays violin in different styles, such as classical, jazz, rock, pop, country and Chinese traditional music. She performs in a classical orchestra and a rock band. She has a strong passion for music therapy and has worked in nursing homes, special education schools, and hospitals. She loves to use music to interact with people and to share her music with people.
Jerome is a composer and performer based in New York City. He is a Fulbright Scholar (going to Brazil next year to study music) who received his Bachelor of Arts degree in composition and ethnomusicology from Columbia University. At Columbia he studied counterpoint with Ramin Arjomand, composition with Arthur Kampela, and saxophone with Ole Mathisen. His work engages with counterpoint, ambient textures, beatboxing, jazz, sampling, electronica, hip hop, Caribbean music, Classical and Baroque music, and storytelling. He’s performed his own music at Joe's Pub, Columbia University’s concert halls and WKCR radio station, HERE Arts Center, Ars Nova, 5C Café and Cultural Center, and JACK. He’s composed and performed musical scores for Obie Award-winning director Rachel Chavkin, as well as directors Andrew Scoville and Annie Tippe. Listen to his album Variations here!
